Skeleton Song (Preview)
Strand: Animals including humans
Sc3/2.2b identify that humans and some other animals have skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement.
Ideas for use in class
1. Prior to playing the video, encourage children to listen and watch for a purpose.
Invite different groups/individuals within the class to listen for particular information:
Lower ability – “Why does the body have a skeleton?”.
Middle ability – “Can you name some of the bones in the human body?”
Upper ability – “Can you name the three functions of the skeleton AND tell me what the body needs to maintain a healthy skeleton?”
2. Play the video.
3. Elicit responses from the children.
4. Play video again to consolidate learning.
5. Review children’s learning by enabling them to complete a poster review in small groups.
