What is songsforteaching.co.uk?

Songs for Teaching is a growing collection of educational songs and musical aide memoirs for primary school pupils, teachers and parents. Every song on our website has been lovingly created by a practising UK based, primary school teacher and covers objectives from the 2014 National Curriculum.

Why use songsforteaching.co.uk?

Songs for Teaching is an invaluable resource for teachers, pupils and parents. Through melody, rhythm and rhyme, our songs enable children of all abilities and cultures to learn in a way that is fun and motivating.

I have witnessed firsthand how these songs have boosted attainment within my own classroom. For example, a child with autism who retains very little through discussion and written work has been able to retain and recall facts about grammar and multiplication as a result of listening to music via Songs for Teaching.

For teachers, Songs for Teaching’s music saves them precious time as they can access the materials with a few clicks on their computer/tablet devices. The songs can then be used for a range of activities including lesson starters, plenary and assemblies and you can guarantee that children will always be engaged and enthused by our songs and videos.

Parents meanwhile will find the website a practical, cost effective way of getting their children to learn outside of the classroom. Whether you’re driving in the car or doing the housework, Songs for Teaching can keep children learning without them even realising it!

How can the songs be used?

Songs for Teaching can be used in a variety of ways. For example, teachers can use the songs as a lesson starter or plenary. Children, who typically respond well to music and often remember lyrics and melodies with seemingly little effort, will find that they remember key facts and information contained within the lyrics which they can recall and apply in other areas of their studies. Keep an eye on song pages for suggestions about how to use the songs in lessons.

When can it be used?

Anytime, anywhere so long as you have a suitable internet connection, display and speakers.
